(Noun pl). Underpants, briefs. The term derives from the genericised trademark ‘Y-Front’, a property of Jockey International from Kenosha, Wisconsin. The trademark of course derives from the inverted Y-shape formed by the seams at the front of the garment. I the USA, the term Jockeys, short for Jockey Shorts became the common term for men’s briefs. Same source. Different outcome.
