(Noun 1). A gaseous emission from the anus. Not widely used these days but still used by children as a replacement for fart. Also used as a verb. “Mum, Simon has pumped again!”
Similar Meaning: Fart, Trump (UK).
(Noun 2). A heel-less canvas shoe or sand shoe. When I was a kid, all the children had to wear pumps for PE (physical education) classes so Americans would probably describe it as a tennis shoe or type of Sneaker (US). Not at all the same as Pump (US). The pump is also known as a Plimsoll (UK) (mainly in the South-East of the UK) – because the line around the shoe where the upper is joined to the sole resembles the Plimsoll line on a ship – and as a Dap (UK) (in the South-West and Wales) which is actually an abbreviation of Dunlop Athletic Plimsoll.
Similar meaning: Dap (UK), Plimsoll (UK), sand shoe, tennis shoe.
