(Adv). US mildly vulgar slang replacement for ‘head over heels’. So, if you fall dramatically, you fall ass over teakettle (or just ass over kettle). The British equivalent would be Arse Over Tit (UK).
Unlike the British version though, the American phrase has a second meaning – ‘frantically’. For instance: “We’ve been scrambling ass over teakettle to get the redecorating finished on time”.
